The Agricultural & Applied Economics department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison provides students the opportunity to work closely with faculty whose interests align with theirs. The department offers a collegial, supportive atmosphere that is focused on academic rigor, as well as passion for the economics of the real world.
Our students come from across the country and around the world, with backgrounds in government, policy, research, and experience in private and nonprofit sectors. Students build connections with faculty and each other through social interactions, enjoying Friday morning coffee, potlucks, picnics and more.
Once students engage in their individual research, there are many opportunities to present your work and get feedback from faculty and peers. Our students graduate ready for careers in academia, research, and policy.
