Profs. Brad Barham
and Jeremy Foltz
are both recipients of the Vilas Associates award for the 2010 competition. Through the generosity of the Vilas Trustees, the Vilas Associates program will provide research support during 2010-2012. Professor Barham's
research will compare organic dairy farming to conventional non-organic dairy farms in western Wisconsin. He hopes to understand how local interactions between farmers affect their decisions and then compare these interactions and decision-making to peach farmers in Bolivia. Professor Foltz
will be conducting research on why Mali has been successful in increasing their maize production.
