Multisectoral Dynamic General Equilibrium: Applications of ARTIMAS for EMF 34

Jared has been collaborating with the Environmental Protection Agency on a dynamic general equilibrium model which has been developed for studying energy and environmental issues. In this talk Jared will speak about analysis which has been conducted as part of the Stanford Energy Modeling Forum Study 34, a working group formed to understand how an integrated North American market might operate under various world oil and macroeconomic conditions. Specific focus will be placed upon the tradable commodities of oil, natural gas and electric power. Although primary emphasis has been on conditions that influence current decisions, the evaluation will extend through 2050 due to the long lead times for investment and planning. Primary emphasis will be placed upon these fuel and power metrics: . production . consumption . prices . energy trade between Canada, Mexico and United States . energy trade between North America and the rest of the world Jared will talk about ARTIMAS, a dynamic general equilibrum model with 30 sectors, 9 household categories and 9 regions which operates on five year time intervals. The first part of Jared's talk will be an overview of the EMF model comparison exercise and the most recent ARTIMAS model features and results. The second part will involve dynamic calibration of ARTIMAS to external projections.
