How does your degree support your career?

ABM gave me a broad skill set of both business skills and life skills. It taught me how to problem-solve and look at obstacles in a different way. The ABM major layout also provides for some flexibility in the classes you take which allows you to take extra classes such as a finance class, marketing or even more AAE classes.

What drove you to your field?

I am actually currently the Marketing Coordinator for a large dairy, beef, and cropping farm in Northeast Wisconsin where they also own a meat market and restaurant. While I am not actively using the business side of my major, I still believe that my major background prepared me for being a part of discussions and creatively and actively problem solving when issues arise. The biggest thing that I appreciate in the field I work in is that I am back on the farm after college and involved in Agriculture!

What insight do you have for prospective ABM students?

Take in and process all of the information you are taught in all of your classes, specifically your AAE classes. You are being taught by very knowledgeable individuals in the agriculture industry, and they are here to share their knowledge with you. Networking is so beneficial, and your professors are great resources!
