Professor Steven Deller awarded 2024 AAEA Fellow

AAE Professor Steven Deller, a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Community Development Extension Specialist, has made pioneering contributions to community and rural economics. His substantial research and extension work have significantly impacted local and regional economic development, particularly in rural areas.  At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Deller holds affiliations with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the Energy Institute, and the Local Government Center (Extension) at the University of Wisconsin. He was interim director of the Center for Community and Economic Development.

Deller’s interdisciplinary approach integrates tools and theories from various fields, making his work highly influential and widely recognized. His publications, which appear in top journals, have shaped the understanding of rural economic growth, amenities, and quality of life. One of the most notable career aspects is the high number of citations his work has received, totaling nearly 11,000.
