I am an associate professor of agricultural & applied economics at UW-Madison and the director of my department’s graduate studies program. My research fields include environmental and resource economics, economic development, and law and economics.

My research aims to understand the effects, intended and unintended, of policies directed towards the environment and natural resources and the role that markets and property rights play in regulating those effects. I also study the economies of Indigenous communities, and how colonial policies affect their development.
