I am an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Agricultural & Applied Economics at UW-Madison and Director of Graduate Studies. My research fields include natural resource and environmental economics, economic development, and law and economics.

My research aims to understand the effects, intended and unintended, of public policies directed towards the environment and natural resources and the role that markets and property rights play in regulating those effects. I also study the economies of indigenous communities, and how colonial policies affect their development.
