Have you ever wondered how society values wildlife habitat, clean air and water, or other goods that do not have market prices? How have changes in the rules of world trade affected the performance of agribusiness firms in the United States?

Do speculators on Wall Street or at the Chicago Board of Trade have a positive role to play in the economy, or are they just gamblers?

Are you interested in the strategies involved in transforming a command economy (such as existed in the former USSR) to a market economy? Perhaps you want to know how developing countries can compete and survive in a global market place.

Can we solve the poverty problem without jeopardizing economic vitality? How can small communities develop a sustainable economic base? How does government policy affect the price of milk?

If you are interested in any of these or similar questions, consider studying in Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
